Morning Nae,
I was humming along on Goldie Honda today and was wondering about true success?  What is this thing called a successful life?  Big house?  Nah.  Beautiful car? Heck no.  Lots of money? Not that either.  A truly successful life is not anything others can identify.  It comes from the inside a person.  It's roots derive from a solid confidence in coming to terms with ourselves and our Creator.  So, does this mean that religion provides the way? Nope.  I've seen some pretty screwed up people who were heavy on religion. I was one once.  How about Spirituality?  Closer, but not the prize.
I once knew a guy in my early teens who was as big as a barn. He was about 25 years old. Not an ounce of fat on him.  My father had a poultry business and Benny worked for Dad.  He had the mind of about a five year old.  Terrific worker.  Benny could out work us all because, most of the time, he didn't know what he was doing!  He always had a smile on his face. One night we were out doing our poultry thing and it was raining cats and dogs(Whatever that means).  I was wet, soaked through and through with chicken poop all over me. I wasn't a happy camper.  Benny suddenly walks up displaying this huge smile on his face with water dripping off his nose and shouts "What's up Freddy?".  I looked at Benny with a sour face and asked, "Benny, why are you always smiling?"  His answer was, "'Cause I'm always happy!"  Life sometimes can be very simple.
I learned something big from that person on that day.  We can be in a good way or a bad way, but we can always choose to be happy.  We have a choice.  No matter where we are or what we are doing, we have a choice to bless those around us and thereby bless our own lives.  It's easy to be a grouch.  It's more fun to be happy.
I must come to terms with my Creator while I am coming to terms with my life.  It is as simple as that.  It doesn't matter if I am highly religious.  It doesn't matter if I am Spiritually "connected".  What matters is my attitude towards life.  I can choose to be a success no matter what the circumstances because success is an inside job.
Smile big today.
Love you!
Fred
