My mom and I got to Cebu before noon today.  She wanted to stay close to the airport, so I found a place.  After driving from Cebu City to Mactan, which is where the airport is located, we asked how far this resort was and he said one hour more, so we told him to just drop us at a hotel because we were getting further and further away from the airport.  He ended up dropping us at the Shangri La.  It is world famous and in the book 1001 places to see before you die.  This hotel was easily the nicest place I have ever stayed at.  It had several pools, several restaurants, kids play facilities, games rooms, fitness center, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, high speed internet and just about everything else one would need.  It was even on an beach with it's own marine sanctuary.  It was very nice.  I enjoyed using the hot tub and sauna.  The marine sanctuary was amazing.  They protect the fish and forbid fishing in order to save the sea life.  The sea life was absolutely amazing.  The fish were super friendly.  It was a great way to cap off my trip with my mom.

The next morning, we woke up and went to a few local sites around Cebu.  My mom got to see the relaxing beachey parts of Philippines, so it was good to go see a bit of the history.  I have already seen all the sites that we saw today, but just wanted her to enjoy a bit of it.  We saw Fort San Pedro, the Heritage of Cebu monument/museum along with Magellan's Cross.  It was interesting to follow the history.  I went to Dominican Republic in May of this year.  Columbus invaded that place and I got to see the history there, but Magellan who was from Spain just like Columbus came to Philippines just 20 years after Columbus discovered America.  It was quite interesting to I guess to learn more about the Spanish history.
