terminal was located). Once I walked a few minutes up the road, I did find the city center and it was a bit better, but as soon as I got that first look of the bus station, I booked my onward ticket to
Nashville for later that night. Knoxville is located in Knox county and used to be the capital of Tennessee in the early 1800s. It also has a bit of history in that the Union and Confederate armies in the civil war had a big battle here. Both sides took control of this town at one point during the Civil War. The city has a market square with an open courtyard where they play music and have outdoor restaurants. I also stopped by the river to have a look at the city from the river and saw the churches that are quite a bit older than the west coast churches are in the west coast.
