Santo Domingo is the capital of Dominican Republic. There is not much to see here. I stayed here two nights in two different hotels. They were both overpriced and nothing special. I arrived late at night on the first night and went directly to the bars. I was looking for a disco and some man brought me into a room with about 20 women and not a single man. All the women were in lingerie. It was kind of awkward. Very strange. They were aggressive, but I wasn't interested in sex. I later went to a nightclub and it was supposed to be really nice and popular, but there was only about 20 people there. It was a bit disappointing. I also stopped by the casino and went to watch the Mayweather and Cotto fight. While walking to the casino, many people tried to stop and sell, me drugs, cigars, girls and little kids would come up and say hi, then literally mug me. They would act like they wanted to shake my hand, then drop down in front of me to try and shine my shoes.  The only way to stop it was to trip on them or fall to the side.  They would get down so quick, you would have to either stop or trip on them or fall. It was a bit annoying several times because they start out with the same line every time. I woke up the next day and took a walk around the city. Some man talked to me outside the hotel and started talking to me. I wasn't much interested in him, but he actually did an OK job of showing me the city. I took a stroll on the waterfront, then went to the Christopher Colombus site where he was supposedly buried. This is pretty controversial. A lot of people seem to think he was not buried here. His grave had an inscription saying the year 1507 I think. It was actually a pretty amazing site. It was like a big monument. In the center was the coffin or sarcophagi type thing that was about 4 feet off the ground and then there was a hall that was about 500 feet long with chambers that had the history of different countries around the world. I took a short rest at the hotel an walked the opposite direction on the
waterfront. This way had a small beach, but it was very dirty.  People played in the park and did beach volleyball. There was a musical festival going on that looked like it would be a good show, but it just started raining cats and dogs. It rained hard and I had to take a taxi back to my hotel. I was scared because we couldn't even see the road because it rained so hard.
