The sun is shining when I wake up. Ivanje, a Slovenian biker, offers to make me a coffee. I gladly accept. He just finished biking the Carretera Austral and he is now sick so he wants to take the bus to a sunny and dry location near Bariloche, Argentina. As I must leave my bike and my luggage here, the lady owner let me lock my bike in a small shack and leave one bag too. I walked to the bus station. Luckily there is space on the bus but I am 3,000 pesos cash short for the ticket ($6,00 USD). I informed the gentleman I could not withdraw money from the bank as the ATM will not let me do so. He asked me to wait. A few minutes later, Ivanje arrived and gladly advance me the 3,000 pesos for the ride to Coyhaique. So nice of him. As the bus is about to leave, Nils showed up. I am happy to see him and he calls me crazy to have biked the entire 120km the day before. I said good bye to each other as I will not be able to bike with him for a while now since I am leaving for about a week.

The bus ride is nice and as the sun is shining I can finally admire the gorgeous snow capped mountains and green lakes. As I always do in buses, I slept most of the way. All in all it took 8 hours to reach Coyhaique, the largest town in southern Patagonia. It has two big grocery stores (like in North America) and many nice stores. Shortly after arriving, we walked quickly to the other bus station to find out for the buses for the next day for Puerto Montt. One answer came back at every booth. No bus for Chaiten nor Puerto Montt until Friday evening(it was Wednesday night). I will have to find another solution tomorrow. For the meantime, we found a hostel and bought some food for dinner. As we did not have access to the kitchen (as it is common practice usually so we can cook some meals), we cooked dinner in the room. We bought a roasted whole chicken, some condiments, some bread, Ivanje prepared a nice salad and we had a cantaloupe for dessert with some cookies. Great dinner!
