Our first couchsurfing experience- Not really sure what to expect from this new venture of living in someone else's home without having to work for food and board; we were collected from the train station by our host and taken to his home where he showed us where we would be sleeping, the bathroom, etc. After a brief 101 of the whos, whats and hows of our respective lives, our Vannes host took us to a Chinese restaurant where the sweet and sour "poulet" (chicken) was not what I expected, but edible.

Highlight: The Chinese owner could speak impeccable English and French. We had some fun nights of drinks and "Shithead" and some cosy times with his two rats; Django and Tinybody. A full days walk around the old part of Vannes was tiring but worth it in the event that we were seeing historical buildings and the immaculate Chateaux de Galliard, and lastly, after the insistent growling of our stomachs we created our now infamous mission to find a McDonalds. We walked for four hours, before realising we had passed the road to the Golden Arches at least twice and after finding these Golden Arches of love we were soon out of there and into the KFC next door. KFC never fails to satisfy. Our walk home on heavy stomachs and me having to crutch Matt with a bad knee was heavily challenging, we both limped our way back to the flat, getting lost and having to retrace our steps before finally arriving, flopping on our couch and watching TV series. We left two days after, having to take a train to our next destination; Nantes.
