It's a choice today of walking on the miles of white sandy beach or dipping into one of several heated pools on the premises. Another choice would to be to go fishing. Few places can compare to deep sea sport fishing off the Baja peninsula.

Cabo is known as the Marlin capitol of the world. Marlin, dorado, bonito, wahoo & rooster fish are some of the varieties caught here. There are 2 types of fishermen....those who fish for sport & those who fish for fish. I opted to fish off the nearby rocks with the rod and reel I brought. I even packed a small tub of mussels, clams and shrimp in my suitcase (and prayed my luggage wouldn't get lost!). There were lots of comments from fellow tourists as I walked to the beach with rod, reel & tackle box in hand. I ignored them. They were just jealous. I had never surf fished before & it was a challenge trying to cast my line in the water while avoiding the crashing waves with a serious undertow. In minutes, I was doused with water. It's a balmy 80 degrees today so I dried out quickly. My spirits weren't dampened.

In mere minutes (try 60), I caught (or snagged) a pretty good size fish. The locals said it was a Raballo or Sea Bass & we guessed it to be 2 or 3 ft. long. Ok, I'll settle for 18". Like a conquering hero returning home, I was met with applause & well wishes from the naysayers. One couple even took a photo. Pueblo Bonito has golf carts to take you to your villa. My driver asked me to sit in the front seat. He stopped all the other golf carts to show off my fish. Back in our room, Larry was flabbergasted but proud that I caught such a big fish. I quickly removed the scales with a vegetable peeler & fried him up for lunch. Oh yum. Nothing like fresh fish right out of the sea.
