Flag of Vietnam  , Hồ Chí Minh,
Monday, April 5, 2010

We arrived in Ho Chi mihn city or Saigon as it used to be known, ready to slow down after our motorcycling adventures through the country.

Our first stop, the war remnants museum, a thought provoking history lesson on the Vietnam war and its ongoing effects as a result of experimental nuclear weapons. We took a  few moments to digest all this new information- some images were raw in there depiction of injuries, disfiguremant and soldiers brutality, not pleasant but something we all wanted to know more about.

The next day we decided to do a short Vietnamese cookery class, learning how to cook dishes such as brazed mushrooms, a tasty tomato tofu dish, boiled fish with a spicy sauce and learnt how to roll a spring roll... then feasted!

As an end to our time in Ho Chi Mihn city we ventured into town for a few drinks and bumped into a group of Mekong delta doctors celebrating there colleagues achievements in delivering 20 babies in the past week (which has to be done without giving the women any pain relief because they don't have the money)- we joined in the celebrations, of course, later finding out that one of the doctors owned the bar... so all the drinks we're on him. We preceeded to the iconic club apocalypse now, for a few more drinks and some dancing!
