Brendo photocopied some 'info' for me on the Blue Mountains - history, geography, et cetera, and lo, I did learn much about this National Park. Sydney has a "green band" around it of national parks, something which according to locals, "gives it the right to pollute and still have fresh air". For myself, I love it, and would wish the same on any city. I didn't see any blue, and these aren't Mountains, so much as they are plateaus. The "blue" apparently comes from gum trees which gives off eucalypt oil mist, tinging the skyline with blue On this day, I was not lucky enough to see this odyessy, but I did get the lucky chance to hike around Leura and Katoomba, up and down the plateaus, across ridges, and through the Leura forest. I have no insights here - this is more of God's holy land, beautiful creation. It is powerful and overwhelming as well - even our short six hour dayhike could easily have led us into dense forest, something which killed a man two weeks prior.
