Day 340 ;
Moving today!! We were moving anyway, but after being woken up at 3am by the people who live in the house coming in and cooking and shouting in the kitchen right next to our room, we were glad to be going!
Late start, but we got going , took the bus, got on the E line, changed somewhere and took the D all the way up to Fordham Rd. The Bronx!!!!!
Again we got lost. Really should get a map! Doesn't help when people tell you the wrong way to walk really... It's the old story again. Just say, I don't know!!!???
Anyways, half an hour later, we find it.
We get let in to the apartment block. Christmas decorations in the lobby!! And we get up to the flat, and what an instant difference, these people do it as an earner so its set up and done very differently, but still, much nicer for us. Warmth!! Privacy!! Quiet!!! Tv!!! Much better, we'll be happy here for a while!!
Once we'd dropped our bags in we went straight out and took the four train back down to Manhattan, we thought we'd use the afternoon to have another walk around central park. So we did.
We pretty much did the quarter that we missed the other day, along with something on Claires ticklist - finding and seeing the Alice in Wonderland statues in the park!!
By the time we'd finished it was late in the day, and on the way back we thought we'd walk along 5th, onto Madison, and find Park Avenue - go and see all the big posh hotels and whatnot, with doorman of course.
Some beautiful town house buildings in the small roads between park and Madison and you can just feel the difference.
You fan feel the wealth almost, the buildings, the cars, the people.
On our wanders we stumbled across the designer shops of course!! Not that we dare go in them looking like we did. But still, wanted to see them, can't remember them all but the likes of Prada, Gucci, Dolce&Gabanna, Ralph Lauren, Cloe, Vera Wang, Juicy Couture.... You get the idea!!!!
Back home to the Bronx and its a lot different to the part of queens we were in. Queens was quiet at night apart from the sirens and you wouldn't exactly just want to go walking around late on in the night, or that's how it felt anyway. Not that you want to go walking around late at night, but you know what we mean!! here It's still buzzing till a bit later on, its hustling, people on the streets with flyers, trying to get people into shops, shouting out about whatever it is there trying to promote, the shops are open late, there's a more diverse group of people around. Though we did see two people arrested and arguing with the police within the first fifteen minutes of being here this morning!
Yeh, much different in a lot of ways, the buildings are a bit more tightly packed here, they're more high rise, though not skyscrapers, but we were in a residential area in queens, here we're right on Fordham road which is shopping central, and the university, traffic is heavy, there's way more people around, all different types, though mostly speaking Spanish, you got the hustle and bustle and atmosphere, graffiti'd buildings everywhere. Just more vibrant really. But both similar in other ways!!!
Mmmm, a HUGE pizza for dinner. And we mean huge!! Thirteen dollars, and we were stuffed!!!
