Morning how are you? do you want a taxi? No
Morning how are you? you want to come look in my shop, pretty things cheap price? No
At times its quite hard to stay polite and smiley!
One thing I will never understand is how they don't get the fact that if we want something we will ask, and that pushy sales tactics are really off putting, you can rarely just browse and take in all the nice things which is a shame, so unless you really do want to buy It's best to steer clear.
Almost desperate, which I guess is something we can never fully understand, but mostly its not desperation that you can sympathise with, that's different, if you can clearly see poverty it doesn't feel that way. It's the desperation to rip you off that seeps through that really winds you up, most, not all, see you as dumb westerners' with too much money and are easy targets, you can almost see the dollar signs in their eyes as they leer at you, but these are not the people of the place and you have to push past it and get on with it! anywhere where tourism is big I suppose its to be expected.
Anyways, we took a walk away from the sunloungers, hawkers and little Britain and picked a nice quiet spot, took the guitar with us and had an afternoon on the beach.
Ate in saajans where we are staying, more authentic Goan food which was good!
