Day 17 ;

Found the private bus stand, not the state bus stand we walked to first..confusing stuff but we get there eventually!!

Left Kozhikode /Calicut travelled three hours north west and up into the Western Ghats towards Wayanad District, one of the most beautiful places in Southern India according to the book, and it is, too pricey for us so we are staying a bit further on in Kalpetta.

At 2100, (no snow, so no good for skiing Drobac's) the daytime is so hot but night time and early morning lovely and cool.

The one thing that is slightly worrying is the saying - what goes up must come down!! So we got the bus up, not really knowing where or quite high it was, the driver was a little crazy, so we have decided we will pay a large sum of money to come down in a safe way, e.g. not in a bus, we saw a bus that had crashed on it's way down as we were heading up, that is enough fear for us, he was just lucky it was in a patch where there were trees, if there hadn't of been - like on some of the parts of the road it would have dropped 1000's of feet!

Sure you'll all know what it feels like going up those mountain roads - Amazing and sacry at the same time, thrwo that in with the crash, the bus driver who's on leave for the weekend and buses from the 1800's and you got some poo pants!!

Anway's we arrived safe, we walked up and down the road looking for hotels most all booked up, ended up stopping at a dive but it would do for a night , when you have had a bad few days the last thing you want is to stay somewhere horrid but hey ho, then we searched the internet looking for somewhere to completely chill and get out of the hectic town (which we oddly miss when we leave - not for long!)

Heheheheee, Claire actually ran a mile.... cockroache on the curtain...ooo!!i dealt with it in the manly way, stood at arm's length with a glass and a paper pretending it didn't bother me!!

Day 18 ;

What goes down must come up!!

So we had finally landed on our feet! We had a pretty rough couple of days (Claire) and not great kip, the places we had been staying had been...how should i put this..really horrible? that's the kindest way of saying it! (minus the Ritz of course!)

The thing is your always near a main road or a bar with the cheap accommodation, and the temple's go off at five every morning - we are not complaining, just writing to remember!!

Now we are in our type of heaven, a bed that doesn't feel like a plank of wood, a swimming pool. internet, gym and breakfast and dinner included! Like i said heaven! we are starting ot get our tan on..hahahh to all you pale people (jealousy is intended! we know you do the same to us!!)

Blowing the full daily budget to be here but why not, foods in and we don't need to go anywhere or do anything apart from sit by the pool so why not ay!! and no where else can you get this for 15each!

Claire is already talking about staying here for, mmm, the rest of the four months..but we wil have to move on eventually..
