Day 16;

This morning we got up at five thirty ready for our mission to find the elephants...

And find elephants we did!! not before getting really annoyed at a tuk tuk driver for first ripping us off big time (perumbavoor tuk tuks are a bit of a joke!) then after taking us the 11km teling us today is a holday so it is not open (the area is shut every Monday) so thanks to that wonderful human being!

But wait... all was not completely lost, it was still a normal day for the elephants and they still needed to go to the river for a wash, we got to walk with them, just them and us, and we got to touch and be close to them which was amazing!! but would still prefer to watch them from a distanc and see them in their natural habitat.

On the way back we met a cool little kid who's english was the best we have heard, so intlligent! and the very proud father. We also met a lady who had a massive guest house who talked to us for a bit then got the bus to stop for us to take us on our way.

So we made a bit of a rash decision to leave, went back to the hotel checked out and got a bus back to Alwaye railway station. Four hours later got to Kozhikode (calicut) and what with an early morning and a long train journey we had kind of had it, next time firts class AC for anything over an hour!! Doesn't sound alot but even the simplest of things - getting a bus, a train can be quite frustrating!!

Kozhikode beach is worth missing!! We walked for a while, got a rickshaw through thee SMELLIEST part of town and to the beach, no accommodation, litter everywhere so back we went, got to the Shathsapuri Hotel - dirtiest room!! and got the nets up, went for dinner on the rooftop after walking around and getting lost and hungry and a good end to a long day - open kitchen, hot, fresh, ridiculously cheap food and a beer, ate so much couldn't move after, mmm..lovely boneless chicken..ahhh.. and we love these kerala paratha,porotha,peratha, fluffy bread stuff..lush!! oooo and butter naans..mmm Claire not so impressed with the kurma's but loving the paneer masala's.

Anyway, bed and a plan for the next day.
