Today we woke up to sheets and sheets of pouring rain. At around eleven we decided we had to start our day at some point and so we braved the rain. We ran down the block and took shelter under the raised metro platform. We decided it was time to go to a cafe and ran through the rain to the nearest cafe. The man inside was very nice and spoke English (thank goodness!). We ordered four hot chocolates and watched (and felt as it was an open cafe) the rain pour down.
The hot chocolate was AMAZING and the man was very sweet. We discussed the possibilities for the day and decided to head to the area Emma knows best, hoping that maybe her friend Alexandra would be around. To get to that neighborhood, we had to take the same two trains we'd taken yesterday only not go as far on the second train (we were taking the 6 to the 4). This time though we decided to switch at a different stop which turned out to take forever! The tunnels we walked down were the longest ever and it took quite a while to get to the 4 train. Finally we emerged in Emma's neighborhood and made our way to Alexandra's house. She wasn't home and we could not reach her by phone, so we decided to head to the Louvre. The line to go into the famous museum, however, was very, very long and so we decided not to go in (I have now been to the Louvre twice and never been inside). After wandering around for a bit we decided to take a cab home.
Tonight we are having dinner with Stan and Juliette (I'm sorry if i am misspelling any of these names). Today is also Bastille Day so there should be fireworks later! :D
