Luck of the Irish I picked Kevin and Mark 5 and Chris 19 up from the airport in Queenstown at 2.00pm on Thursday - just an hour before the Irish team arrived. Lots of smiling Irish faces around plus loclas turned out to great them. They are staying a couple of Ks up the road. A great place to train and get up for a game. Kevin bumped into them around town Friday evening (Irish Aussie!).
Full On. Within two hours of landing we were checked in to our appartments on the lake side - Kevin's shout - and out on a jet boat ride ove Lake Wakatipu and the Long Shot River for an hour. Next day skiing at Coronet Peak followed by Mini Golf for the Baileys, cuppa tea for me
Tallulah. Is my favourite name currently for the camper van. It is Lydias suggestion, was the name of the toboggan in Cool runnings; I like the connection with snow, and the fact that the van runs well downhill. Other possibles include:Wilkinson (always injured) Mabel, Sweet Chariot, Camper Von Van, Prima (our pompey football team)
Ski Talk. Skiing is different here, have to drive up the mountain, no one stays overnight there, and lifts close at 4.00 to get everybody off. As campervan would not make it and is in dock, hired a car 4wd Subaru Legacy, got a deal thanks to Roger, and the roads up the mountain really need it. Not alwasy tarmaced. Tallulah would not have made it. Mark is an amazing skier for 5 yrs old. Likes jumps and going fast with snow plough though his skis are getting closer together day by day. Chris and Kevin needless to say are helping push my skiing; getting my legs working again and did some black ones on day 3. Wish I had exercised though, got sore knee and decided not to ski today - last day
5 1/2 No photos of me for awhile. I went to get a haircut, and had no choice; Sissor cut at $39 or clippers at $18. Except the max number was 5 1/2. Giuli will not like it but hopefully it will be a 7 by the time you arrive dear!
Queenstown and Wanaka. Lovely places in dramatioc locations, no wonder Lord of the Rings used sets here.
What Next? I pick up Tallulah (fixed door and misfire I hope) tomorrow and head to Dunedin ready for England Argentina! Cannot Wait. Come on England.
