I started early this morning; I went to the supermarket to buy stuff for lasagna, appetizers and dessert. I almost forgot to defrost the meatballs, but luckily, I remembered before I started to make the lasagnas. I tossed the lasagnas in the refrigerator, and then chopped up some tomatoes for the appetizer. I seasoned them, and put them in the fridge too.
I headed over to school to check my email, and see if my bank card was delivered. I also tried to find the gym, but was unsuccessful, I got lost. I really want to find it, I want a treadmill! I would go running around my neighborhood, but it's not typical to see people jogging on the streets. But I also want to use the different weight machines, and hopefully join a class.
Anyway, when I got back to the apartment, it was around 5:00, so I decided to start making the appetizer. I sautéed the tomatoes, and took out the pastry I was putting them in. It is called vol-e-vent, basically, it's pastry in the shape of sushi (like that tall tube look). Well I took it out of the freezer, and noticed the Pillsbury Dough Boy on the outside, and I was like, oh crap, you usually have to bake his stuff. Of course, they were flat and needed to be cooked. I was like okay, this will be easy, but I totally forgot I was in Italy, and that I had to translate the instructions. It was easy though, I just had to coat them in milk, and toss them in the oven for 15 minutes.
I then tossed the lasagnas in. It's so much easier to cook them in my kitchen, the boys oven takes forever! I had the table all set and ready when everyone got here. It was perfect timing.
The lasagna's were good, the appetizers turned out good, and I put mozzarella cheese in the bottom, so they kind of were like bruschetta (by the way, pronounced bru-sket-ta). We had a good time. I'm excited for this weekend, we're planning some trips, and going to appertivo. Ciao fino domani!
