Finally, a day to sleep in and not have a schedule to follow. My roommate Anna and I headed to the Duomo around 10:30, we wanted to climb to the top, and it is supposed to be amazing. We also wanted to do a little shopping. When we got to the Duomo, the stairway was closed until 1:00, so we went to some of the stores, and got lunch. We had pizza from a fast food place, it was good! I did have trouble eating it though, because out here, when the Italians eat their pizza, they use a fork and knife, I have to get used to that.
We were the first to reach the top of the Duomo, which was great, because we had a chance to take a lot of pictures without people blocking our view. I wish we could have been able to walk around to the front to take an areal view of the Piazza, maybe in May, but we did walk the perimeter of the rest of the roof, and we were able to see all the way to the Alps.
Later in this afternoon, I went with Anna to the Metro and had a pre-dinner panini. I had another tomato and mozzarella one, I love them. We made friends with the owner, Mario and his brother Sandro. Now when we go by there, they always wave!
I went to dinner at the Marriott again with my parents, this time Giulio and Alfredo joined us. We did pretty communicating. Alfredo is going to come to my apartment on Tuesday and take me on a walking tour of Milan that should be fun! He also wants me to come visit them on a Sunday so they can take me to Church and I can see their house. I am probably going to go at the beginning of February. Giulio and Alfredo are going to come back to the Marriott tomorrow for the 3rd time in four days to say goodbye to my family, and bring homemade olive oil. Giulio has a fig tree and he brought some figs for the family. He took some of the figs and put almonds in the middle and covered them in chocolate! They were so good!
Well, school starts tomorrow, so I must get going. Ciao for now!
