Interesting day today; in terms of where we ended up.

Our plan (after staying the night in Walmart carpark), was to do some shopping (you don't want to go to theme parks in the week-end!), and then head to the Disney Wilderness RV resort ... looked great with parks, lakes, entertainment etc.  BUT, I have to say, trying to book this by phone or internet was exhausting to say the least, and with the price, I personally, had some reservations.

Anyway, we went into Walmart in the morning, just for a couple of hours, to do some general shopping - groceries, clothes etc, and let the kids spend their pocket money - it's the perfect place to do that - think Farmers, K-Mart, Toyworld, Spotlight, Countdown , plus McDonalds, Bank, fantastic personal service pharmacy, nail salon, hair salon, eyewear, and tyre lube centre all together - no exaggeration.

Well, some 5 hours later, we emerged laden with 'who knows what', and headed along to Disney... now I have to say this is like entering another city!  Following the signs (along causeways, mini-highways), we entered into the 'Wilderness'.   Promptly got in the motor home queue (after passing security), and stopped.  The sign very clearly told us to 'stay in your vehicle', but after 15 minutes of not moving, I decided to check it out..... problem with computer .. of course.     I won't even go into the next half an hour, but needless to say we got the message - it wasn't meant to be.    The area was extremely vast, and we would have needed to hire a golf cart at usd50 per day just to get around, let alone the fact their internet wasn't really there etc, and what you could get you had to pay for.   Okay, let's move on....

After driving around the resort (feeling pleasantly relieved that we hadn't booked), we drove straight out of there, stopped at the Orlando Premium Outlet stores for a couple of hours, then headed back to Walmart.
Now I have to tell you about Walmart:  most of them let you park in the carparks free of charge.  We introduced ourselves to the security guy, who drives around for 24hours (safer than a campsite), and we were in good company with some truckies and a couple of other rvs.  With toilets there as well (although we do have our own, but saves water), and a 24 hour grocery store, and VERY CENTRAL to all the theme parks, (in fact we were more centrally located there, than ANY rv park, and most hotels) it was absolutely perfect for what we needed and saved us in the vicinity of USD100 per day!   Now over a few days... that adds up!

To all our fellow bloggers who are currently travelling:   there's no wifi, but hey, it's free, it's safe, will save you on gas 'cause you don't have to travel far to get to anything, and you can fill up with water at the gas station.  I would strongly recommend it to anyone travelling in a motorhome.   And believe me, what you save on 'accomodation' or park fees, you will spend at the theme parks, or the factory shops - I guarantee it!

USA shopping rocks!!
I told you! Walmart was one of my fav stores. You have to try TJMaxx and Marshalls. They rock too! Thats were I used to get your kids clothes and your paintings from. Will call you sometime soon when we get more news on house. Call your mom and told her about our phone card, she seemed a little apprehensive about it, she said she had a good phone deal, I didn't want to force it. I called another day to see about popping around to into her phone, but she wasn't home. Will try and catch them again sometime. Barb xxx
