Woke up this morning to "Happy Birthday To You" - Tara's 12th birthday.   She's very much been looking forward to this day, and we have too (although it's very hard to see her grow up), but we had wanted to try and make it special for her.  So we'd stopped at a campground that had some activities planned for the weekend....

Now, before I go on, I need to make something very clear - I do NOT approve of Halloween ie: all that it implies and represents, and I've never liked the idea of going around asking for lollies and then playing some horrible trick on someone if they don't give them to you .. YUK!  However it is HUGE in America, with EVERY second house decorated, so it was a little hard to ignore.  AND, we're at a campsite, that has all these activities etc, planned around Halloween, so today I let the oldest ones do a craft class where they coloured in their own fabric goodie bags, and got to paint pumpkins - they really enjoyed it.  And then about 5.30pm, just at the campsite, all the kids got dressed up in costume, (and it could be anything), so Greta was a fairy (of course!), Trent was a cowboy, Brad was a lepricorn etc, and all the kids of the campground dressed up like this and we shared sweets and lots of fun.

But of course, it's Tara's birthday, so after all the arts and crafts this morning, we had a girls afternoon shopping, then back home for the 'trick & treating' and then off to dinner ... our first dinner out since we've been away!  We were ALL looking forward to it.   We went to a family steak house, and got the usual array of steaks, ribs, chicken, burgers, wings, cob loaves etc.   It was fantastic.   Then back in time for the 9.15pm disco at the clubrooms, in the campsite.  BACK into costume again, to dance the night away.

Finished the busy, busy birthday with the obligatory birthday cake, you'd think after everything we'd done, we could have missed that?  NEVER  .....   these girls don't let you forget a thing!

Tara and the steak
Tara I have to ask....you and that steak. Was that just for you or to share with the rest of the country? Just teasing. It looked perfect. Great Halloween costumes everyone!
