Where I stayed
The whole coming into Yoesmite and of course the National Park itself is WOW. We felt so tiny against the huge mountains, trees that were hundreds of years old, and the enormity and creation of nature in its rawest form.
Don't quote us on this, but I would say, the best time to visit this area would be spring, when all the snow is melting, and the rivers and waterfalls are full and flowing. We are visiting in Autumn, and although the colours are quite stunning, the waterfalls are dry - the upside to this, of course, is that the weather is quite pleasant to travel in, and not at all cold. (You can't have it all).
After having a look around, (and going WOW around every corner) , we headed off to Wawona where we'd booked a campsite at the Wawona National Park, inside Yoesmite Valley. We went to the National Park office, registered, and then went to the campsite, which was right by the COLD river (just ask Tara), and enjoyed the peacefulness and serentiy. One campfire and dinner later, (remembering to leave nothing out to attract the bears!), we comfortably hibernated for the evening.
