Stunning! No other word for this lady.
Of course, we probably appreciate it more as adults than the children do, as we read the history, and events of years gone by, and still recognise the names of passengers Bob Hope, Duke & Duchess of Windsor, Greta Garbo etc...
In the glamourous years, she was the most glamours ship, and still a lot of her beauty retains. We were in awe of the craftmanship and the detail. Detail is everything! There were no shortcuts, and consequently she has stood the test of time.
In the war years, she was used as a war vessel, and had guns and cannons fixed. They are still there, and although she served a purpose, it was, in my mind, sad to see. It tarnished the fantasy.
We left the Queen Mary, a bit more wistful....
Around the corner was the Aquarium - got up close and personal with the Stingrays.
All in all a grand day, finished so appropriately with an ice-cream on the harbour looking back at the beauty herself.
