It was a nice drive along the lake again this morning as we headed back to Yakima. Scenery always looks different going the opposite direction and we spotted two RV Parks we didn't see last night as we traveled down the road looking for a spot to stay.

We passed through our last dry hills range area between Yakima and Ellensburg.  There is a military training range in that hot desert land like there is in NV.  Very desolate country for training our National Guard in.

Started up Blewett Pass (elevation 4102 ft) and felt the coolness to the air right away.  The landscape changed from arid to lush greens of grasses, thick underbrush, and deciduous trees along with the green tamarack, pines, and firs.  This is our favorite drive in the fall as the tamarack turn bright lemon yellow, really showing up against the green pines and firs.  The charming town of Leavenworth on the other side of the pass displays a Bavarian themed decor and hosts tourists (bus loads) all year round.  In the fall is October fest and there is a Christmas lighting ceremony on the weekends of Dec with the great Christmas Train providing a warm, cozy, "lively" trip over the mountains for those wanting a carefree fun time.

We stopped just outside of town at the grocery store for dinner fare and ice.  When we got to the Icicle Creek RV Park, a lady was just leaving the office with paperwork for the last site on the river.  Darn!  Long story –short, we decided to continue over Stevens Pass, head for home, and sleep in our own bed for the night.  LOL

I called DD Renee as she was leaving work and asked her to share dinner with us as Ron was working out of town.  She wasn’t even surprised that we were that close to her home (she lives about 30 minutes from us).  There were big hugs all around (very good to see her), a delish dinner and lots of chatting to catch up on three months worth of activities.

We were home by nightfall and unpacked just enough for the night.  The house felt so spacious after our time in the RV.

Louie proved himself to be a fantastic traveler.  I would even consider taking him along with us again.  Dave and I both enjoyed his company. <G>
