Kentucky Horse Park Resort Campground
We awoke to sunshine today and I got to hear one of my favorite sounds near by; train whistles early this morning. The weather was already hot and muggy (97 % humidity) before starting out on the road. Good day to travel. We were really coming down out of the mountains most of the day, from 2700+ feet down to 700; still heavily treed and lots of deer. A nice thing about I79, there was no billboards. :) We have been quite impressed with the amount of road repair work while traveling through MD and WV. Lots of signs posted with "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act".....our tax money at work? I hope it is giving some jobs to those needing work.
We arrived at the designated campground in Lexington, KY expecting a relatively quiet night.....NOT. It was the weekend for the Blue Grass Music Festival! The 250 hook up sites were full! Dave and I found ourselves (along with fellow campers) enjoying "primitive camping" sites in a 50 acre clover field overlooking the festival stage. Hot and humid, with no hookups for the AC. Good night of festivities with fire works to cap off the night's entertainment followed by a thunderstorm to dampen the fires, of all kinds. LOL
Thus…Woodstock NOT!
