Up and ready to go as everyone gets prepared for a dream training session, with Barcelona coaches. We take the bus into the heart of Barcelona, turning around a corner we see Camp Nou, which holds between 90 to 100,000 diehard supporters every match, who are lucky enough to regularly see Barca turn on the style and play their football, that is globally recognised and can only be summed up in one way...Beautiful.
We eventually get taken over to their training grounds, just over the road from Camp Nou. Each AFS team gets assigned a coach and we get straight into it. All the work done in training is with a ball. Mainly possession type games, in tight spaces. The drills are done at pace with sharp passes and quick thinking needed. We have a quick break after and hour and a half, so that we can eat lunch before getting straight back into it. All the boys push hard and get their first feel for how the spanish game is played and seem to pick it up quickly.
After training it is off to Camp Nou, for a tour. where we get some great sights of the changing rooms, Ground, Stadium, Press Conference room and trophy collection. On the way out we walked through the club Museum, where you can read about their success over the years, watch videos on past and present players as well as look at the early history of the club and how it's changed over the years.
We then had enough time to go to the club's official store, where everyone got the chance to take a bit of barcelona home with them. It was an unbelievable day, which the players got alot out of, and now the tournamnet was just around the corner and all the work done in the lead up was about to be put to use.
