After 20 straight hours of packing, moving, and cleaning, my journey has finally begun! I somehow managed to get everything I need for 4 months into 2 suitcases. I didn't even bring my big suitcase, I have one carry-on sized and one slightly larger, medium-sized suitcase. Here's hoping it'll get me through 4 months and I won't have to buy yet another suitcase along the way.

Now I'm in Boston with my mom for mother's day weekend. We don't really have any plans but I'm sure it will be fun. On Sunday we get to see Emily for a brief moment.

I learned my first Icelandic word: Eyjafjallajökull. I can pronounce it but I can't spell it (I looked it up on wikipedia and pasted it here). It's the only Icelandic word I know, but it's a pretty important one.

So the plan is to fly to Iceland Sunday night, arrive Monday morning, have a day to relax and meet my landlord, then fly to Sweden Tuesday morning. But. I just learned that there's a good chance that our plane to Iceland will be re-routed to Glasgow, Scotland because of Eyjafjallajökull.

It would certainly be cool to take a spontaneous trip to Scotland. I've never been there. And they speak English so it shouldn't be intimidating. I very much enjoyed my spontaneous trip to see my friend Karin in Washington, D.C. last year. But there are things I need to do on my day in Iceland. Like get the keys to my apartment. Soak in the hot springs. And I was going to leave a suitcase there. The airline will send my suitcase to Iceland. But it's not the same, it changes how I need to pack. But, if we do go to Scotland, the airline has to pay for our hotel and meals.
