August is the month of special birthdays in my life and today is the turn of Kirsty! Far far away in South America, Columbia to be precise, Kirsty is getting ready to celebrate her big day whilst I am here in Bali wishing I could be there to celebrate with her but I know she will be happy! It has been her dream since the Melbourne days to set foot in the country which is home to so many of the amazing friends we met in that wonderful city!

Back at the ranch we make it up in time for breakfast, only to find that the toast is stale, the egg is yuck and the tea tastes vile! That will be our karma for sleeping in the day before I expect!

Dayne and I have a lazy day on the beach, on what was forecast to be the day the heavens opened, with Dayne opting for a surfing lesson whilst I topped up my tan! It was such fun to watch him splashing around in the ocean mastering a new sport amongst the waves! Striding out of the sea it was immediately evident that he had the most fantastic time too!

Sitting on the beach we discuss what our jobs would be if we lived in such a country and I really reckon hiring out your own surfboard would have to be one of the coolest! You would get to spend the day by the beach, doing something that you loved whilst meeting new people from every corner of the world and you'd become a bloody good surfer too!

I manage to stock up on dresses on the way home from the beach, I think my count is up to 15 now which may sound a bit extreme but when these things cost a mere $4 here compared to the $40 price tag in Australia it has to be done! After the mammoth shopping fest we end up de-sandifying ourselves before heading out to find dinner! Such evening walks have become our customary nighttime event and have become one of my favourite parts of the trip! Strolling the streets admiring the creative produce whilst putting the world to rights under the magical moon and stars, it doesn't get much better than this does it?
