Yes I made it, that same evening as well.
Travelled via Punkaharju, an area with lots of great lake views...

Once in Savonlinna, I found myself an official campsite this time, so had a nice warm shower again and used the sauna in the morning. That evening I met more Dutch people (we really are everywhere ,-)) who told me about their 10-day canoe trip on Saimaa lake(s). It souned really nice, so much so that I decided to go on a kayak trip myself for about 3 days. Called the rental place and no problem to have kayak for tomorrow. Great! Viewing Suomi from the water.

The couple also told me about a free campingplace by the lake, close to the rental company. How good to share info! But cannot leave Savonlinna without visiting the Linna (Fortress) of course! The city center is pitoresque and the fortress looks impressive, completely surrounded by water and only reachable by a new walkbridge. My luck I don't have to pay entrance fee cos I am entering shortly before closing time. Kiitos! In the middle of the fortress there is still a huge stage, which was used for the classical music concert given end of July. That must have been special. Unfortunately I was not there at the time.
