Every day I think of leaving, not because I don't like it here, but just to be able to see some more of this beautiful country. But in the mornings there always are reasons to stay another day....and another!
What have I been up to then, besides sunbathing....
Visiting Lahti center (Keskusta) again to buy some Finnish music cd's and copy some more at their home later! They really have good music here! Famous band The Rasmus is one of them! Friday night Karaoke night again, so plenty time to dance and try my Finnish sing-a-long! People stayed, so I was not doing to bad I guess ;-)
Then on Saturday evening going to the Wild pig party
I had no idea what to expect. The whole evening was great, with (in my eyes) real countryside elements in it. A raffle, a local play (Kari had role as well), a local band, people sitting at the edge of the dance floor waiting to be asked, hay stacks as standing tables, home-made food and of course a HUGE pig! (not a wild one). He had been taking a sauna for 2 DAYS, hence the lovely smoked flavour. Fortunately for him, he was already dead! Had a great time that evening, dancing with some locals and even trying my best to do Polka with Virpi....stepping, jumping, stepping.....We laughed more then danced really!
I have also been very lucky as a serenade has been sang to me 3x! There is this lovely song with the title 'Angelique', once written for a Eurovision song contest! First time Kari surprised me by singing it to me by himself. Later once more with a singing friend and again during the Pig party in front of all the locals! I felt a bit shy but mostly very honoured. It was beautiful! Kiitos Pallion!
At the campsite there are many bikers
And for once I did not have to look at maps but just follow them. Easy, relaxed and beautiful views along the way!
Being on a campsite at a lake, I somehow managed NOT to go into a boat and explore the country from the water! Cannot leave without being on the lake at least once, so Virpi and I went at last for a glimps at all the beautiful houses at the waterfront! And I got some exercise as well rowing the boat. For a beginner I didn't do to bad. We kept the boat floating, not get stuck in waterplants and I managed to keep Virpi dry (which means...NOT splashing the water around when hitting the peddle on the water!).
After 2 weeks I really felt I wanted to see more then Lahti though. So after a final great night with home-made cake by Virpi, a Harry Potter card game with Veera, drinking liquor in the evening and talking well into the night....it was time to say Goodbye!
Only with the promise to be back again for the final party end of August!
With some more dancing, karaoke and alcohol!
So.....Nada Myöhemmin! (see you later!)
