Hello people,

Spending  a fair time in Bangkok, chilling but also arranging things. I have made up my mind wheren to go to next: Myanmar (Birma). Like to travel in another country for a while, new language, new culture etc. After 4 months of lovely Thailand, who I will meet again after, as I plan to travel into North Thailand after my Myanmar visit.

So, arranging 28-day Visa at the embassy, queing up for half a day, which is down very efficiently by moving over chair by chair. And just before it was my turn: Lunch Break! So had to wait another hour to hand in my application/passport. Picking it up 2 days later. Sorting out my flight, as it is not possible to travel completely overland, except via Ranong, which I have been to many times now ;-) Also wanted to stay here untill my thai visa runs out, flying now on the last day.

Enjoying the things a city has to offer whilst being here. Went to the CINEMA twice !! this week. Shooting and Hannibal Rising (last one recommended!). It is well known that the Thai King is respected everywhere in Thailand. Even in the cinema this is evident. After the lenghty commercials a short film is shown with national royal music and ALL Thai people stand up out of respect, not saying a word the whole time. I do not see this happening for our queen in Holland!

Also paid a visit to famous Kao San Rd again, the place to buy backpacker things, arrange flight, buy used books etc. Busy, packed with tourists, but also has its charm. See if I can have a skirt repaired there tomorrow as well.

This will be my last Thai email for now, keeping you informed of my new adventures from mystical Myanmar! Adrian, if you have any tips as in do's or don'ts let me know ok!

Talk to you later!

Do's and Don't
I had only one of each:
DO go to Myanmar...
DON'T stay less than 28 days

And a recommendation: try to save a few days to go north of Mandalay, up the Ayeryawaddi.

Enjoy!

Adrien
