I dont know what it is but ever since i have set foot on this continent I have been unusually blessed with gas. If any of you know me, and all of you do, you know that i have a lot of gas but this has just been extraodinary. I know mom, why am i putting this on the internet, well i dont know.
Ive been in the drakensbergs for the last two days. A lot of great authors have written about them and in my opinion they failed, not that they werent great writers but the place cannot be encompassed in any amount of words or pictures, so ill say one thing and let the pictures do the talking.
I met Max (another German, germans are everywhere down here) at the hostle and the next morning we decide to do a very long day hike together the next morning. We take off the next morning and everything is great until about 9am when everything starts to wake up, he soon became intimately aquainted with Carolina barking spiders, he didnt find them nearly as amusing as i. The only problem was about halfway thru the day the winds shifted and i was down wind of myself the rest of the day, not good. I later came to the uncomfortable realization that i have left my externale cure for everything in the states, I remebered my internal cure (goodies headache powder) but have forgotten gold bond triple action medicated powder.
Ok, so here are the pictures.

amazing scenery
Son, I find the pics of the bergs amazing. I wish I could be there! No 16 hour flight for me. After reading of the yak experience, I am more assured than ever that there are angels watching over you and God answers prayer!
If you are still with Paul, be advised that $400 is in your account as a gift from Greenville friends and family.
Still Praying! Love Dad
Re: amazing scenery
Thats great, i let Paul know that some money may be coming in and that i would give it directly to bonginkosi for scholarships. This $400 will give 2 kids education for a year and 2 meals a day, preventing the prevalent malnutrition.
So if any of yall reading this want to help some of these kids, let me know, it is extremely cheap to make a very big impact in their lives. Duc, this is what our project entails.
hey there!
stephen,
thanks for updatin this thing. i always say i'm gonna keep up with people's blogs and never do. but yours has been wildly entertaining! I love it! So, disturbing about the school situtation--I want to hear more when you come back. lovin the pictures.

Kruger National Park
Hey chief,
I was watching Discovery Channel, and they highlighted Kruger Naitonal Park. They said that is has the most diversity of wildlife in all of Africa. Check out the website http://www.sanparks.org/parks/kruger/default.php
Great work out there, Leo
Re: Kruger National Park
Oh yeah, it's on the same side of the country that you are on, to the north of Swaziland on the border with Mozambique. The closest town to the southern park entrance is Nelspruit. I don't think it is that far away from you relatively speaking.
And stop poluting South Africa's fresh air!!

Stephen's Big Adventure
Oh, this stuff is too good!! Your mom is totally speechless! : ) You keep us in stitches. Keep the updates coming. (I guess I will think twice before swimming in the ocean-Andrea)

Glad to hear you're having a gas!
Looks just like Kansas to me. Well, maybe not just like Kansas but you would be surprised by the resemblance of the Flint Hills with some of those green, treeless rolling valleys. Stay safe and go Jayhawks!
remember those dogs in Brazil???
yeh...they are kinda like that wind over the ocean that day you tried to go fishin in the deep... and too bad you'll never grow out of the motion sickness... :-) still remember all those times we'd have to pull that white station wagon over in the mountains just so you could puke. awesome. good thing it had plastic red seats.
love the pictures!!! I WANT TO BE THERE!!! the world is feelin small these days! take care of yourself. I leave for Ridgecrest tomorrow for X-Fuge weekend. love you lots! holla :-)
A Titillating Trip Nonetheless
More pics.....Any pics of animals would be great too. What are you eating (anything weird) ? I loved the guy taking a nap in his jacked up car.. I guess he had enough. Any shark stories? All that puking may have saved you from JAWS, but try not to think about big sharks while you are in the ocean. It could ruin your moral.
Keep it coming - I'm loving it. dave
Another generous gift
Hey Son,
Let us have another blog from you. It is great to read your stories. Had a great time with Paul M at the museum. You must go and see him.
Chuck Langston gave me $250 for you today.I know that will really bless some young lives. I will put it in your account.
Love, Dad
NOT FAIR!!
African sunsets (my favorite), tanning, african kids, amazing adventures, personal honey moon (I mean what), I don'y think I like you anymore, seeing your pics makes me miss my favorite place on earth! Some day I'll go back...Seriously, I'm sooo exited for you! Stop contaminating S. Africa's pure air...My trip to Siberia was great but COLD! chao.
