I got the cercanias train from Sol directly to Aranjuez. The journey took less than one hour and only cost €6.40 for a return ticket.
When you arive at Aranjuez, it is the last stop on the line and there are not very many signs to say where you are so listen out for the intercom.
When you leave the station you can get buses into the town center. I chose to walk as it was a really nice day! There is also a map indicating various tourist routes around the town that you can take.
There is an enormous palace here. It looks very similar to the Palacio Real in Madrid. The palace is bulit inbetween a river and to get to parts of it you need to go over little bridges. There are splendid riverwalks by the palace also. The gardens of the palace are enchanting, with fountains and parts of the rivver running through them.
The town was a charming little town full of life. The Feria de Abril was on so the streets were full of life. The town is full of trees on either side of the roads which made walking around very pleasant!
This place would be an ideal place to come on a family day out, go to the palace, which is only €2.50 to see, have some lunch and explore the palace gardens.
In a way Aranjuez felt quite touristy because it had a few souvenir shops but at the same time it didn't have too many.
I definitly loved this town and would reccomend a visit!
