A short (4 hour) mini bus later and we arrived in the town of Gondor. We checked into a grotty hotel and enjoyed the first shower we had had for 5 days... boy did we stink!

We then set about enjoying the luxuries of the town. We found an internet cafe with a semi-fast connection and updated our travel diaries and replied to e-mails, and then, luxury, western food!

The next morning we set about actually seeing the sights of Gondor. Gondor is famous for its castle, built in 1630. We lost our way to one of the castles and instead found ourselves on top of a hill overlooking the city. And as always, with a band of children following us happily along. This time, it was 6 children between the ages of 5 and 11 who entertained us with songs and dance, before demanding pens, our camera, the shirts off our back! Anything!

We quickly ran away and walked back into town, to the main attraction - the castle. It was pretty cool as far as castles go, but I had a sore back and my heart wasn't particularly in in.

So we decided to go to the cinema instead! For $0.25 each we got to sit in a decripid old and dark theatre, not quite able to hear the words clearly, and could almost see the full screen. But, as always, it was an enjoyable experience.

Tomorrow (if my back is better) we hope to travel to Axum. We have been told that if we're lucky this will take one day :)
