Today we got off to an early start. Left the RV Park at 6:45! We will eat breakfast on the road!

Just as we are pulling onto Highway 16, we spot a Black Bear wandering into the woods. Later we spot Elk and a lone Caribou!!!!

We get our first "road rain"….We have had some rain a couple of evenings but none while driving. Didn't last long and things cleared up.

Just on the west side of Hinton we turn onto Alberta Highway 40. The sign at the turn says “Scenic Route to Alaska”! It was a nice drive and we saw 2 more Caribou!

Stopped at the Wal-Mart in Grande Prairie to pick up a few items. Easy in and out since it is right on the highway.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        We arrived at today’s destination, Dawson Creek, at 1:30…..It pays to start early! Stopped at the Visitor’s Center and took the obligatory picture of the display announcing that Dawson Creek is Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                   So, we are now in a new phase of our adventure. Tomorrow we set out on the Alaska Highway. In 4 days we will be back in the US and finally in Alaska!

Tomorrow’s destination is Tetsa River RV Park.

Our stats for today:   Miles driven : 333  Total since Iowa :  2735

                                    Gas today : 144.5 liters   $202
