Arrived at Puno at around 5am. It was freezing cold. Did not sleep well on the bus as the roads were bad and the bus went off track for a period.

The moment we exited the bus bay, lots of touters selling their tours flocked us. We tried our best to ignore them and head straight to our hotel. This lady who tried to sell her tours told us the taxi was 5soles and we agreed to go along with her to take the cab. She sat in the boot of the car (it was the space just behind the rear seats) and followed us to our hotel, which kinda shocked me at first. Didn't take us long to reach the hotel. As it was early, we could not check in till later. The lady who followed us sold us bus tickets to Copacabana(15soles) and the Taquile/Uros islands(30soles). Just sat in the lobby and used our phones.

Around 10am, after checking into our rooms and freshening up, we headed out to check out the city. The hotel Camino Real was situated along the Main Street, and we arrived at the Plaza de Armas after just 4 blocks. There was nothing much. The usual church, where a wedding was taking place, and the plaza was crowded with people waiting to stage a demonstration against the government. We went into a restaurant next to the cathedral for lunch, bought some groceries after for the lunch on the day trip tomorrow, and returned to the hotel to rest.

A false alarm sounded around 4pm when a mix up with the tour company. Came to pick us up on a half day tour which wasn't what we signed up for.

Went out for dinner near the central market just 5 mins away and had a good bowl of chicken noodles for 3.50soles, followed by the awesome Mazamorra dessert by the street 1.50soles, and three scoops of ice cream 1.50s. Desperately need a workout now.
