We arrived at Cuzco at approximately 6.30am. The sleep wasn't good - the bus was stuffy and the ride was bumpy. There was problems reclining the seat as well. Cruz del Sol didn't justify their premium prices there.

Took a cab to the hostel, who offered us breakfast while they got our rooms ready at around 10.

We went towards the town centre after washing up. The streets were not as pretty as Arequipa, but the former capital of the inca empire does have its charm with brown stoned buildings and nice plazas.

Wandered towards the main square, where we figured a demonstration was taking place as many ppl were holding flyers and banners.

Went to a nice cozy restaurant in an alley after bargaining the price of the menu to 10 from 15 soles. Had alpaca meat for main, which wasn't that great.

Proceeded to buy the Cuzco tourist pass for attractions here, and visited several museums with it. Also went to the chocolate museum which served a good cocoa tea.

Went to the 'local' market as well but the prices were obviously targeted at tourists. Went to the supermarket as well, to get fruits and water. Some local kids tried to coax us into buying apples for them or something. Didn't fall for that. Also tried an interesting local dessert made of black corn - tasted like pula Hitam.

Headed back to the hostel for our inca trail brief at 4pm. The lady seemed kinda blah, thank god she won't be our guide.

Found a super cheap local shop for dinner - only 3.5 soles ($1.70) for soup, main, and a drink. And it tasted decent as well. Gotta love Peruvian food.

Gonna head to some ruins tomorrow!
