Our first stop of the day was Miraflores. We headed straight to the ancient ruins located in the middle of the district. It was built in the 6th century and was mistaken as a hill until the 20th century. There was a guided tour of the place and it was interesting to know the customs of this ancient community.

After the tour, we walked towards the handicrafts markets. They sold nice Peruvian local products. We went to 2 of them (there were much more).

Then proceeded to look for citibank and to find food. We found a restaurant called Tropicana which had a 10soles menu of the day, which was great. It included a starter, a main, dessert and drink. I had fish with rice, which was rather salty and dry, but it's cheap so I'm fine with it.

We walked towards the seaside mall where you could see paragliders flying near the beach, and surfers surfing the huge waves. The sound of the waves was huge as well.

Next we walked south towards Barranco, a separate district with pretty colonial buildings. It wasn't that far of a walk and the view of the sea was nice. Barranco itself was small, there was a nice bridge and a few colonial buildings littered with bars and pubs, but since it was day we had little to do.

Went back to the hostel and decided to check out the hairdressing studio downstairs. The guy quoted us 25soles (us10) for 2 haircuts. I needed one, and it was cheap. A lady customer told us in English that the hairdresser used to style for Peruvian celebrities. At that price, it was hard to pass. The haircut turned out soso, but it would grow back by the time I get back to sg so i was fine with it.

We made dinner and waited some time for laundry to be done (6pm turned almost 8pm), then left for the magical water circuit in the middle of town. It was a large park complex with around 13 different water fountains of different shapes and sizes. The most memorable was one that had water shooting out of the ground at random timings, and you could walk to the middle of the fountain dry by hopping across the nozzles fast. I was fast, but still got a little wet at the end. All in the name of good fun!

Went back to the hostel around 10pm, where our host Marco had kindly purchased the ingredients needed for Pisco Sour, Peru's national drink. He used to be a bartender and online reviews said he made good Pisco sour. So despite our horrid experience at Chile (who claims pisco sour as their own) we decided to give it a go. It was truly good, smooth and light. We had two glasses and got pretty tipsy.

Gotta get up early tomorrow for our 7.30am bus to Nazca!
