Ibo was a major slave trading port in the 18th century, occupied first by the Arabs traders and then then the Portuguese. It is now made of ruined colonial buildings and streets with pavements, while the surrounding houses are made of makuti - straws, and mud...
It is one of the main islands of the beautiful Quirimbas archipelago and I just enjoyed exploring the islands, amazing for whoever likes swimming in turquoise sea, eating fresh seafood and taking pictures of people with preserved traditions (see the pictures of the ladies and kids with wood-powder masks, beauty masks aiming at protecting from the sun, whitening and softening the skin)
