Hello again!!
Well the last couple of days have been absolute heaven.....ah read on so you all get jealoous...this travelling lark can be brillant!!!
Saturday 8th March
After not remembering going to bed, we awoke at 7.35am after setting the alarm clock wrong, so dozed off again until 9.30am when the little men with hammers set in. Cannot believe we have to get up and check out today!! Feel like crap, bags under our eyes & feel allergic to sunlight!! Usually on days like this we would not leave the house but today were to lug Minnis & Mickey (our luggage) on & off busses & crawl onto the next prison/hostel at the famous Bondi Beach!
On route we stopped off for a time honoured hangover cure & stuffed our faces! Word to the wise people.......dont eat out for breakkie with a hangover as you end up with a 4 course platter meal, hoping it will soak up the 10,000 alchohol units you somehow managed to consume the night before!!
So after a $30 breakkie & a looong ass bus ride, we arrived at Bondi! (NB: We had to sacrifice our precious seats on the bus for 2 OAP's who had the cheek to get on with a walking stick for sympathy!! ''Elderly Seat'' - where the hell is the ''hangover Seat''? - thats what we want to know!! ha ha
Got to YHA with 2 hrs to waste till check in so we decorated the sofas with our gorgeous selves and watched Friends videos. After that we seemed to perk up! Amazing!
Deciding not to waste any more of a glorious day we hit the famous Bondi Beach & we can confirm that it lives up to its previous reputation! It was again like grapes to an alcoholic.....perfect!! So another hard day was spent being beach bums & making life-altering decisions.......I mean, so do you lie on your front?...or do you lie on your back?......How much is too much?.......I mean who do you ask these questions to? Its not like you can google it!!! (Think the sun playing with our brains again!)
Back for shower & change, we quickly abandoned our 'night in' plans & headed out into town...after all we're only in Bondi on a saturday night the once! Managed to find a lovely bar, with lovely beer & wine, & a lovely bed/sofa thing to relax on when the usual happened - a weirdo decided to invite his ass over & remain there for the next hour gibbering & talking crap! Therefore our only means of escape was to say we we're off home (we're so polite - thats our problem!), which was actually code for 'lets hit a different bar'!! Such a drama!
Sunday 9th March
Another day.....another sunbathing session on the gorgeous beach!! Just as perfect & cloudless as the day before, we topped up our tans before having a nosy round the local markets & people-watching over ice-creams! Deciding a nice italian meal was called for that night we headed for a yummy bolognaise & wine!
Called it an early night (for a change!) & had a cheap movie night instead, retiring to our 'suite' at 1am!
Monday 10th March
4.5 hrs later..believe it or not we awoke to our not-so melodic alarm clocks at 5.35am for a breath-taking, champagne Bondi sunrise breakfast on the beach!! It really was picture perfect. Imagine an idyllic, rustic orange sunrise, with the tranquil rippling of the waves, topped off with champagne, strawberries & delicious Lindt Chocolate!! It was not only heaven for us but also for the tranced out 40 year old Asian doll who was doing some Mr Miyaggi meditating moves on our right & the 2 homeless backpackers sleeping on the beach to our left (we smiled at them...cause hey it could be us before the end of this trip!!) You defo do meet all sorts on this trip, but the early morning was gorgeous & well worth the early rise!!
Back to the hostel for 10am checkout & headed back to Sydney centre for 1 night stay in Wake up Hostel - 6 bed room as is the norm these days! Took to the streets again for more exploration & then we had more blissful plans for the evening - a sunset cocktail cruise around Sydney Harbour! It doesnt get more heavenly than that - sipping on cocktails while watching the sun set over the Opera House & Harbour Bridge! I think we have finally found the life we were meant to have been born into!!
In true Flojoy style our 75 min cruise turned into a 2 hr cruise as apparently we had missed our stop along with the 2 other ladies at our table - so they had to sail us back alone to Darling Harbour to disembark.... it was all good for us as we practically ended up with a private chartered cruise at no extra cost! Bargain!!
So today has definately been the best day of the trip so far......A wonderful sunrise & sunset in one day! We are totally loving Sydney & its yummy beaches!! Only a few days left here :-( Could stay forever!!
So we're still in Sydney...city life for another few days - will update again soon!!
