Well, after much hullaballoo regarding a Chinese pilot and his "incident" at Heathrow airport we thought our journey was over before it even began lol However, thanks to BMI for being nice for once in their lives we made there on time via an earlier flight to Heathrow. Think Joy's St Christopher was on our side!! (Thanks)
Two hours on a hot runway later, we were in the air...leaving Heathrow and heading for Bangkok. And of course...J&L being...well us...we always have to attract the weirdos. And this flight didn't fail to disappoint. In the chair next to us was a muted, rocking, psycho who sat the entire flight with a blanket covering his ugly face and mumbling God only knows what to himself! Needless to say it was a sleepless flight! :)
Arrived in Bangkok 10.5 hours later amid the heat, humidity and crazy drivers. Feared for our safety in the taxi and had to argue with him over the fare using our well established "Belfast Faces". After a terrifying hour of the white knuckle ride from hell (holy bejezzus) we managed to step out alive into the dark abyss of the Thai streets!...In the end we decided we liked the crazy driver enough to tip him after he squeezed up alley ways to get us to the Hostel! Definitely an experience and culture shock!
Still maintaining our "Belfast Faces" we braved it out into the ghetto for food, drinks and a looksey around. Turns out it's not that scary (Mum's...don't worry, we're OK!) Finished off the night with a bottle of wine on the Hostel roof terrace overlooking the city.
Another sleepless night later...body clock still adjusting...we are up and about in the sweltering, smelly heat once again. Heading on to Khao San Road now in hopes of finding a bed for the night.
Our plans for today are to hit the sights, grab a few bargains at the various markets and maybe take a ride in the river cruise. Hoping to also see the seedier sights of Pat Pong night market and find Joy a Ladyboy for the night!!

So that's the trip for now. Tomorrow we are taking to the skies again and heading for Koh Samui...Hopefully to sit back, relax on the beach sipping cocktails.
