We then made it to the Blarney Castle itself, its such a grand view and can be seen from most anywhere on the grounds
. It was cool to walk up and seen all the different areas in the castle, there was living rooms, and kitchens, and wine rooms, but as you continued to walk up, the stairs became narrower and narrower and so did the doorways. We made it to the top and you could see all around, it was gorgeous. The Blarney stone was a 4 x 2 stone and was 83 feet up in the air! You sat down and layer back while a gentleman held you, then you grabbed on to 2 steel rods and leaned back and kissed the stone! It was such a cool feeling! We then walked down a different staircase and came upon the murder hole, a room right above the visitor door that looked down on the visitors and if a visitor was unwelcome, they would poor hot liquid on them. Seems so cruel!
When we were leaving the castle, we saw a couple that had just gotten married and were going to take wedding pictures on the grounds, I was a little bit jealous because those are going to be some amazing wedding pictures! We went to a local pub which had some amazing food. There we got to try Guinness with black current which was not too bad! All the locals where there to watch a big football (soccer) game.
Today was a beautiful day and we traveled to Cork and went to the Blarney estate! This was a gorgeous place and a fantastic place to visit! Blarney was a quaint little town with lots of tourist areas! You first walk in and you see the beautifully kept gardens, so green and filled with flowers! There are many paths which you can take around the estate. We went to the Blarney house which was built in 1874 and has had the same line of family living in it since then and currently there are 2 people living there. The history in the house is amazing, they have a clock that is original to the house and tells not only time and date, but high and low tides as well. It was crazy to think that you are standing in such an old house that has been kept pretty much that same way as it started.
