We stayed last night again at the Clarion Hotel, as it had meant we were close to the Disneyland transport, but today it was time to convert to reality and back to hostel mode!

We were able to locate a hostel on Hollywood Boulevard that claimed it was 50 metres away from any action. Which sounded good to us!  And to stay in Hollywood sounded even better!  The hostel we booked into is called the Hollywood International Hostel! What a stunning location!!!!!!! We were impressed - We are in the centre of the boulevard, 50 metres as promised from the Kodak theatre - think Golden Oscar awards, 50 metres from Chinese theatre and right in the middle of the Hollywood walk of fame. Also the Hollywood sign was within viewing distance from the 50 metre walk. Wicked! Our room in the hostel was fairly basic but a nice big spacious! Room - but hey the price was great - so who cares about basic! We just had a bed and table and chairs and a locker in a room, and it was clean which the main thing is! And breakfast was provided and there were lots of other interesting backpackers staying there! We would recommend the hostel to other people, and the guy running it was also fantastic telling us all the sights around Hollywood - what was a must see, giving us vouchers and telling us what buses to catch to get around. He also agreed that the tourist operators around were making very easy money, when the public transport was so good- as in like every 5 minutes a bus arrives at a bus stop!!!! The only not so great thing about the hostel was the massive stair climb up to the front desk and your room. Normally not an issue, but I certainly felt it with my knee!!! Hopefully good rehab in the end! LOL and it certainly was amusing watching backpackers trying to haul luggage up the stairs.

Today we also did the Farmers Market - reminded us of the Central Market back in Adelaide and got some fresh produce for meals. We also went for a wander up Beverly Boulevard and did some window shopping.  They had one shop there for the younger society girls called American Girl - basically you choose a 50cm doll and have it made up to match for you in your choice of skin colour, eye colour, hair colour and style etc. Then you bought ridiculously pricey clothes for your doll and for yourself so you could be identical twins with your doll, then you went with your doll up to the next level and had a cup of tea party with your doll in the specially designed doll cafe then you could also go up to the next level to the Doll Hospital, in case you wanted to change your dolls hair colour, or your older sibling broke its arm off! Basically a massive shop with prices to match of three levels for anything you could dream of that revolved around your personalised doll and hey they advertised 'why not get your doll a friend too?' LOL Very amusing but poncy shop and a long way from the dolls I got given 'pre made' from the local toy store. Maybe I'm going out of sync with my girls need for a doll - hope not, don't want to sound too old! But couldn't imagine going to an actual cafe and sitting my doll down and ordering for my doll too in a real cafe! LOL hehehe

After the Farmer's Market, we needed a supermarket, anyway the first (Massive) supermarket we encountered was Whole Foods Mart! Dedicated to my Aunty Annabel and Uncle Eric I say! They would probably love it! LOL! basically it was devoted entirely and it was massive! To gluten free products, soya products and organic products and other very unusual creations like cheese from animals I didn't know cheese came from! And rice (think rice ice cream) and other substitutes for dairy! Basically anything you want in a normal supermarket you would find made in some more organic or ?healthier? Way. I think it was a supermarket devoted to the stars and their weird diets.  Very interesting, but I really needed shampoo and conditioner! My choices were limited to vegetable made power shampoo or conditioner?? ummm...! Or ones made from lavender, sage and other herbs. I stuck with the herbs. Seriously the ingredients consist of about 5 different herbs or essential oils and water and one other chemical sounding ingredient and that is all!!! Very organic for my hair LOL smells good but leaves a big knotted mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We also booked a tour for tomorrow our splash out of the week to Tijuana! We found that travelling to Mexico yourself didn't work out time wise for only a day trip via the public transport as it is quite a distance - 3 hour drive on a freeway and then you had to factor in the border crossing, which sounded difficult by yourself. Yay we're going to Mexico!

Just before we went to bed tonight, making ourselves comfortable in our room, Simon moved the bedside table to access power points and OH DEAR! What an enlightening experience followed LOL heheheheehehehehe! Still find it hilarious! We happened to find ourselves a 'black mama style' porn magazine!!! Oh dear! Well the rest of the room was clean, thankfully LOL maybe the last person wanted to leave us reading material to go with the leopard print sheets!!! Ahhh yes not our usual reading material!  But a funny end to our day! LOL
