This week my travels took me Eastwards into that mysterious part of town called Kemptown.
The buildings there are beautiful, if occasionally tatty, the streets are picturesque, if occasionally tatty, and the people are... well... they're lovely but occasionally a bit tatty.
Kemp Town was designed to be a mirror of sorts for Hove. The design included grand avenues and crescents meant to give the appearance of the continental palaces of the day, the idea being that aristocrats would buy into the image of royalty.
Unfortunately, the project bankrupted and almost killed Kemp, and the town was never entirely finished. Town planners also went on to knock down swathes of Kemp Town to build council tower blocks full of grim, high density housing, the Philistines!
