... and lost. I've been in Vegas five weeks now and my bankroll has been up and down like a yo yo but I've managed to make enough to get by in Vegas (not an easy task) through playing it safe, but not really making any serious money. I came to Vegas with the intention to either win it big or lose the lot. I was tempted to place it all on red or black on the roulette wheel. One spin, 50/50, win or lose. But that takes guts or stupidity. A fine line I think (and I'm probably leaning towards the latter) but either way I found myself unable to do it after watching some guy place $3000 on one spin. He won $6000 so thought law of averages means I'd lose. In the end I decided to stick with what I'm good at (or think I'm good at) so last night I took what I had left, went to the Bellagio poker room, sat down at the $30/60 limit game and went for it. Two hours later I had nothing left. Sometimes I swear I lose just to piss myself off (and it works). But the way I see it, I'd rather take a risk and lose than never take a risk at all. I'm not saying how much I lost because it doesn't really matter (plus it still hurts to think about it) and I'd do it again if I had the chance but now at least I have an excuse to come back next year and win it all back! (I'm not a degenerate gambler - honest!)

To think that I've been here for five weeks is a scary thought as it has flown by, but that's not really surprising due to the fact that day and night doesn't really exist in Vegas. You can go for breakfast at 4am and then start drinking at 7am, that is if you stopped from the night before. You can sit down at a poker table with the intention of playing a couple of hours only to notice a funny smell a while later and then realise it's actually you and you've been sat there for two days just waiting to win a goddamn hand! I suppose I could have spent my time a better and done more tourist stuff but that's not what I came to Vegas for. In the time I've been here I've seen The Rolling Stones, David Copperfield, Dennis Rodman, Gus Hansen and Phil Ivey. So yeah I guess I'm going to miss this place but at the same time I'm glad to be finally leaving. Today I'm heading back to L.A on the greyhound with the crazy guy from Vietnam where I'm planning on meeting Joey (a friend from kiwi experience) before I fly back to the UK with her next Thursday.

Bye bye Vegas, see you next year. Until then it's back to the real world (uuhhh)...
