Caught the Kiwi bus yesterday at 7am which gave me about 3 hours sleep on Friday night after sampling some of the nightlife with two German girls who were in my hostel. There was about 11 people on the bus and we were taken to Paihia which is known as the Bay of Islands. Even the view on the way up here was impressive when the bus goes around winding roads overlooking valleys, but I could barely keep my eyes open most of the way. Although everyone I've spoken to has advised me to get to the south Island because that's where all the "good stuff" is which was the plan but again I didn't really look into it very well and the tour I booked on does a lap of the North Island before heading south, not that it really matters. Just from what I've seen so far you can really tell New Zealand is such a sparsely populated country with a population of only 4 million and a third of that living in Auckland. I think I'm going to like New Zealand and after this trip is over I might return one day to see it properly.

The bus driver, who was like a walking encyclopedia of useless information and an expert on every type of cow, informed us that Paihia this used to be the old capital before it was moved to Wellington. We also drove through the place where the guy who was the first to climb Mt Everest was born and is also the guy on the front of the NZ $5 note. Im beginning to sound like the bus driver now. Anyway when we arrived in Paihia 5 of us went on a pretty rubbish walk for a couple of hours through the woods. Don't really know what I was thinking going on a walk, was probably half asleep when I agreed, but afterwards we ended up in a bar having a good laugh. There was a couple from Ireland and two teachers from England who had quit there job and decided to travel. On the evening the hostel sorted a barbecue out for us. We were all so shattered that we were asleep by 11 o clock. This afternoon the bus is coming to pick us up and take us back to Auckland because I'm so limited for time in New Zealand I literally have one night in every place.

Also just bought a ticket to see the rolling stones when I'm in Vegas on November the 11th which should be awesome.
