Yesterday we crossed the border into Northen Territory which is an hour and a half ahead of Western Australia. Since leaving Broome we have done nothing but drive. Between the three of us we've covered about 1800km (1200 miles) since Saturday.

We spent Thursday and Friday night in Broome in the overflow campsite safely out of the way of any rangers on the prowl for backpackers minding their own business. Spent Friday on the beach at Broome which is definitely worth a look but wouldn't put it in the top five in the world. Also went to the outdoor cinema in Broome, which is the oldest operating outdoor cinema in the world, to watch Superman Returns.

Saturday we left Broome and reached a town called Halls creek as it was getting dark, which we decided to stay the night at, but when we drove through it was like a scene from night of the living dead. It might have been the local Saturday nightlife but there aborigini's on every corner and even in the middle of the street just wandering around. Some of them were led on the pavement, some were sat around in groups on the grass and others were just wandering around with a glazed over look in there eye not acknowledging anything. Bearing in mind that this place is hundreds of miles from anywhere it was kind of eerie and we weren't really sure what to make of it. I'm sure that if an Aborigini went to the UK and saw some of our city centres on a Saturday night he would probably describe seeing a few zombie like creatures wandering around. So who knows but we decided to head out of town and sleep in our good old spot by the side of the road with a few road trains (trucks) to keep us company.

Sunday we spent all day on the road. Saw a few fires in the outback. Slept in some campsite by the side of the road.

Today we arrived in Darwin. Only time I really feared for my life on the way here was when I was sat next to Dave who was driving and looked up to find him in the middle lane which was the overtaking lane for oncoming traffic. Things could have got a little messy there had someone actually been overtaking coming the other way. When we arrived in Darwin (in one piece - just) we decided to treat ourselves and pay for a campsite space just outside the city which is where we'll be staying tonight with modern day luxuries like a toilet and shower!
