Landed in Perth yesterday at about 2.15pm, the flight was great as usual with Singapore airlines and was expecting to breeze through customs to pick up our bags and be on our way but didn't happen as smoothly as that because me and Luke must have looked like a couple of pill heads who had just come straight from a Rave.

When we gave the woman on customs our passports she seemed friendly at first asking where we'd come from and so on, then realised she was giving us the third degree and wanted to know where we'd been, what we'd been doing, who we'd met and asked just about everything short of the last time I got laid. Finally she reluctantly gave our passports back and we went to collect our bags and another customs twat approached us asking us exactly the same questions then told us to collect our bags and follow him. Great here we go again. He showed us to a table where he then proceeded to empty the entire contents of both our bags, wallets and pockets and scan them for any traces of drugs. We were a bit shocked when the guy came back and told us they had found "high traces of MDMA" which is basically ecstasy. It was then his face brightened up as he was sure he was going to find something and continued searching...

Customs dickhead: "Ok so how do you think these traces got on your wallet and in your bags?"
Me and Luke: "Honestly don't know, I've had that wallet for ages."
Customs dickhead: "Have you ever done any drugs?"
Me: "No, never touched a pill in my life"
Customs dickhead: "Come on you went to Thailand, everyone does it there. You go to any clubs? What did you do every night?"
Me: "No we just stuck to bars mostly, went to a few clubs, drank a lot but didn't touch any drugs"
Customs dickhead: "Did anyone your with take any drugs? how can you explain these traces we keep finding?"
Luke: "Dunno maybe your sticks broke"

Customs dickhead goes off and gets another stick, scans it again and supposedly results are the same. On and on this goes for about half an hour, this guy constantly asking questions about the full moon party and god knows what else, he continues searching our stuff. I was beginning to get the feeling we were guilty until proven innocent but then didn't think they could actually hold us on finding "some traces" (that is if they actually found any at all and weren't just putting us to the test). Eventually after frisking us thoroughly and to his bitter disappointment of finding not so much as an out of date paracetamol he told us we could pack our things and go. What a fucking fiasco and to be honest after traveling through asia without so much as a second look at my passport, Australia was one of the last places I thought we were going to have any trouble.

So when we eventually got out of the airport we rang our hostel to pick us up. Turns out we had been put in the same room as Dave who we'd arranged to meet there. He was in his bed fast asleep when we turned up at about 5pm. Not much changes there then.

On the evening we went to look for a bar and first one we came across was a strip club but there wasn't any strippers in there because it was a Monday night. We got chatting to the owners and the only other guy in there who used to live in England and had plenty of crap jokes to share, which was amusing in itself. The owners said they'd shut up early and take us to the casino if we wanted to. We wanted. I wanted - a lot. The guy who owned the strip club told us it wasn't a very good one compared to the others in Australia so wasn't expecting much but was just happy to get to a casino no matter how bad it was. As we were leaving a stripper turned up, it was her night off but she said she'd come to the casino with us. When we got there they wouldn't except Lukes UK driving license as valid proof of ages so he had to get a lift back to get his passport back at the hostel. Another reminder of how we're no longer in Asia.

I've only ever been to the casino's in the UK, so when he said it was crap I was expecting a few dingy slot machines in a corner and couple of blackjack and roulette tables. Turns out it was the biggest casino I've been to in my life! Proper Vegas style 24 hour resort with poker tables, blackjack, roulette, rows and rows of slot machines and a few games I'd never heard of. But the strip club owner explained it wasn't as good as the others in Australia because it was only one floor! If this one is crap I can't wait to see the good ones. I could have happily stayed in there for a few weeks. Although luck wasn't on my side and ended up blowing ummm a little bit ;) Also wanted to keep getting my camera out and take photos but realised you can't use camera's in a casino when Dave got his out by the entrance and about 5 security guards pounced on him and made him delete the photo. Still was an awesome, if not expensive night...
