Just a quick update to let you all know I've landed in Bangkok airport. Feeling surprisingly OK considering the very little sleep I've had over the last two nights. I've actually been in these clothes since Saturday and was beginning to smell after sleeping in them yesterday. Really beginning to pong now. I guess it wasn't the best idea to get to the airport 16 hours before my flight was due to leave. Although didn't really have so much choice. So ended up sleeping in the airport for a couple of hours last night with a few other people. Woke up 5am this morning to the sound of the guy next to me swearing because he couldn't find something in his bag and felt the need to let everyone know. Couldn't find my flight on the monitor which isn't what you want to see, then realised I'd been asleep in the arrivals lounge rather than the departures.

Flight left about 9.30am this morning and took about 6 and a half hours to get to Bangkok. Wasn't expecting Singapore airlines to be anything compared to Virgin but they were just as good if not better. Goes to show I'm used to traveling with cheap budget airlines. Again I never had any serious pains in my ears when landing or taking off, which was the only thing I was worried about with the flights. Touch wood, so far 2 good flights.

I think you can tell quite a lot about a place from the vibe you get when you first get there. When I arrived in Tokyo you could just tell everyone in Japan is going to take their job seriously with everything in full working order, spotless and run on time. In Bangkok the first thing I noticed was that as we landed there were people playing golf literally 20 metres away from the wing of the plane! Wasn't exactly what I was expecting although not sure what I was expecting. Think there may be some major accidents involving planes and golf balls if I got to play on that golf course. From the time it took me to walk from the arrival gate to this internet lounge I must have been asked several thousand times whether I want a taxi and where I was going. Getting the feeling Japan broke me into the whole traveling thing quite gently (if not expensively). Still have to find somewhere to sleep tonight. Better get going, really beginning to stink now...

Welcome to Bangkok, now maybe you can go for a paddle in the sea with your clothes on just to let them have a slight wash....
