I arrive Sunday morning into the teeny tiny airport of teeny tiny Launceston. The student, Jim, who picks me up points out about 5 or 6 people that he knows that are also at the airport, and am quickly given a sense of just what to expect during my semester's stay here.
Driving into Launceston, Jim shows me around all over the city and even offers to wait while I pick up groceries! The city's tallest buildings must be no more than 7 or 8 floors, which is really quite different for me, and allows for wonderful views of the sky and the rising hills around the city. In the morning, an enigmatic fog settles on the hills' various levels, giving the city quite a fairy-tale quality. This is further enhanced by much of the historical architecture of the "downtown" area.
After recently settling into the university and residence, the pace here is nice and relaxed, and my mind is able to clear up a bit from the last 10 days of hectic traveling.
And they have really active monkeys (Macaques) from Japan here in the City Park!!

Your macaques are something else....
I presume you will continue the series on the macaques after the #2 one...We can't wait for the next episode!!
What is a pademelon? Is this an 'only in Australia' kind of animal?
Is the gorge in walking distance from your residence?
Loved your pictures, Sebastián. How about some from your residence, classrooms, teachers...etc?
Waiting with baited breath for the next installment...
