After Julia had given in on the try to get me to New Orleans by some Christian people, she drove me outside Austin so that I could hitchhike to New Orleans. I only stood there for a few minutes before a girl on my age came and pick me up - she was very excited, that she had picked up a Danish hitchhiker. Therefore she invited me on dinner on her favorite restaurant.
Where she dropped me off I only had to stand for another few minutes, before I got picked up by some guys who drove me to a spot on the east side of Houston (I never really realized where it was because I didn't have a map). But I realized that I had to stand from about 5.30 pm to 9.30 am around that spot in Houston. The first 6 hours I spend on a on-ramp and 3 hours I spend on the freeway - but without luck. After the long time standing my legs got so sore that I had to find a place to relax. I was lucky that a 24-hours Wal-Mart was just next to my spot and I could sit and rest for a while in their McDonalds and to get some private life I went out to their restroom and sat and slept on a toilet for the 2 or 3 hours on that night. The next morning it took me a while to get a ride - but fortunately I got a ride away from Houston. I don't know what the name of the little village was called where I dropped of at, but I only stood there for minutes before a guy (Micheal) came and asked me "if I wanted a meal" (in Danish = he was Danish). I was hungry and sleepy, so I just said "yes" (ja - in Danish) with the same. He was having dinner with his family and their Baptist Church - I think he felt pity for me, cause after the dinner he invited me home, so I could get some rest. I and that was what I got - I think I'd talked a little with his wife and their 4 children, before went to bed to take a "nap". The nap just ended with me sleeping from 3.30 pm to 3.30 am - so I must have been tired. It was my luck that it happened and that he was Danish so I didn't felt that much obligated to be "entertaining" and just could sleep. In the morning he drove me to the same spot, from where he had picked me up. From here it took me 6 rides and 9 hours to get to New Orleans. On one of the rides I even got 20$ and on the last ride into NO I did my best to be invited home by the driver, because I was not sure whether I would have a place to stay or not when I came there. I completed my mission and got invited to stay and got something to eat by my driver, Jason.
