We had bought some lunch meat filled rolls the night before as we had a fridge in our room and I couldn't be arsed getting up early just to get breakfast. Except I was convinced the rolls had salmonella or parasites and they didnt taste good so I felt sick afterwards from eating mine. Noni said hers wasnt tasty either but there you go for being lazy. Talking of lazy, instead of going through the complex and painful trama of using 2 trains and a fast train to the airport, we booked an "airport transfer" service though the hostel/hotel which was a lady and her van type car to take us to the airport. It was good, she could navigate traffic and I got to see the city (which was a pretty city) one last time on the way. At the airport, Noni got upset for paying lots in excess baggage but I'm not really sure why it was such a shock when she had warned me about excess baggage.... Anyway, my tummy was hurty so I kept quiet and had a bit of a rest on the short plane journey.

Flying into Amsterdam is so pretty, the fields stretch for miles and they are all patchworky of brown, green and yellow with trees bordering each field. Amsterdam airport is also very nice when you are not running though it to make your connecting flight (as I had done to get from Amsterdam to Rome). Getting into the city was a fast train to a lovely large train station and then a crowded tram. Noni had booked me a hotel and it was okay, but probably would have been more enjoyable had there been no construction outside. In the room, the hotel guide had said "should you have trouble sleeping, please find earplugs in the cupboard". I took that as a hint (early the next day, the prophecy in the hotel guide came true because of the construction). We rested up and went out to dinner. There was this area full of tourist restaurants (Irish Pub, Hard Rock Cafe and Steakhouse) and I wanted meat so we went to the steakhouse. It was nom.

We went for a walk after dinner as it was still light. There are many pretty parks to walk around, and these parks have doggies BUT the cyclists here are crazy and there are billions of them. There are cycling paths but they are everywhere, despite this the cyclists still like to ride on the footpaths and roads. Noni wasn't paying attention and drifted onto a cycling path without looking and almost got hit, despite me stopping and telling her to move. I safely guided her back to the hotel to which we chilled out to TV.
